websitebuilder-hub • Apr 19, 2021

We are opening up!!!! Saturday 24th April – who is joining us? The bookings are live as from now.

Please read the below so you are all aware of the new procedure for 2021

We don’t want this email to sound direct etc but if we list the relevant things then it saves us rambling on ;-) Put the kettle on, make a brew, then read the below – read it please!

Here goes…..

  • You must be a member to swim at the lagoon – if you are not a member then it will not allow you to book a session once they go live. Join Here

  • To book a session you MUST be logged into your account – there may have been updates with your app etc since you last used it, so please delete and re-install if it doesn’t work before contacting us. The app is called ‘Evolve Endurance'.

  • The sessions we are going to operate initially are going to be as follows –

          Wednesday 16:30-18:00 & 18:15-19:45

          Saturday & Sunday 08:00-09:30 & 09:45-11:15

  • They will increase from 1.5hrs after a couple of weeks – this is because we want you to be safe in the water – it may be your first open water swim for quite some time and obviously the temperature too! We need to do our job which is to make sure you are safe and also consider situations for our crew members watching over you on the water.

  • Please do not book back-to-back sessions as we need to monitor the demand of places for the first few weeks. We appreciate many of you may have events coming up so we will assist/advise asap but we need to be able to provide the service to all of our members and make it fair!

  • Arriving at the lagoon – we have new gates – yippee! If you are arriving as the gates are opening – WAIT until the gates are fully open and not moving before you pass through them. Don’t take this the wrong way – but we want you and others to be safe and we don’t want damaged gates either!

  • It’s a 5mph speed limit in/out of the Lagoon – we have wildlife, pedestrians, cyclists and there is no need to go fast. Please be respectful of this rule, the landowners are watching.

  • Covid is still out there and despite us being outside we still appreciate you to social distancing throughout your time at the Lagoon. More later!

  • The café – is operating from the hatched window currently – please wear a mask. There are benches around for you to sit and eat/drink but again, be mindful of social distancing.

  • Once you have arrived at the Lagoon, we will book you in near the fighter jet aeroplane, just past the café, as you walk around to the lake – please wait in this area if you are early – maintaining social distancing until you have been checked in.

  • Please arrive for the start of your session as once the session has started, the crew have other roles so to cover so they will close off the registration area.

  • Several flags will be in the ground at the side of the lake – this is your changing area. Leave your bags etc at your spot. No changing room facilities as yet.

  • We can help you into your wetsuits if you need help – we are also hiring the suits if required. Its £10 per session for hire – please ask on arrival for your session. Cash or card is accepted as payment.

  • The lake has 2 x swim courses – 250m & 500m. For the first few sessions we are only offering the 250m course for safety reasons to everyone. Please ask as a reminder about the course if you need to on arrival.

  • If you’re coming to the Lagoon for your first ever time with us – you MUST be inducted prior to entering the water. This is for YOUR safety. It only takes approx. 10mins. You may be coming with someone else who knows the procedure, but please don’t guarantee that they will advise you of all safety points.

  • Reminder about the swimming course (either distance); the buoys should always be on your left shoulder as you swim around them. Please don’t stop near the buoys to wait for your friends – we will as safety ask you to move on, keep this area clear! Meet back at the beach.

  • Swimming at the lagoon requires you to swim in a wetsuit until the water temperature reaches 18°, then it is optional – if you choose to swim without a wetsuit, you must swim with a tow float. A brightly coloured swim hat is also a requirement – for your safety. No dark colours or silver swim caps as we can’t see you very well.

  • The safety crew on the water will advise you when it’s time to exit the lake.

  • Once you have exited the lake, use your flag as your area to re-dress, then please head back to the café/car park the same we you arrived. Please maintain social distancing at all times.

  • We are currently on with opening a walk/run path around the lake. It will be signposted for directions, but please stick to the obvious path. Do not approach the water edge at any point on this route! This will be a one-way route only due to covid, narrow passing areas and its safer in the direction we have chosen. This route is only open to members only. Please feel free to grab a drink from the café (take your own refillable cup if you can), walk the route and take in the stunning views. This path is closely surrounded with wildlife so please be respectful and keep the noise to a minimum, and please do not litter! The route is a challenging one in parts (steep hill climb, with some steps up and down), please wear sensible footwear. We would really like people to use this – we, along with volunteers, have put a lot of effort into this path so we need to keep using it – we will advised when the path is open for usage.
  • We have events happening throughout the year – please have a look at our website and share www.evolveenduranceevents.co.uk

There are still extra events we would like to offer this year, so please keep an eye on our Facebook page – Blue Lagooners Triathlon & Open Water Swimming Club.

Also, we are always looking for volunteers to help us out at the lake during our sessions, events and just general hands on so please if you can offer a few hours occasionally we would be very grateful – get in touch with the below email.

If you have any questions about anything above, please send us an email to info@evolveendurance.co.uk and we will reply asap.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you all to the lake,

Bev, Morgan & Crew.
